Orange Mint Plants

Mentha x piperita citrata

Herb gardening with mints is a delight: these herb plants are easy to grow, delicious in food and produce a wonderful aroma.

A delicious culinary herb, Orange mint has green, branching stems tinged with red that reach 2 feet high. White and pink flowers in short spikes bloom from mid to late summer. An aromatic herb that is very fragrant with a delicious citrus-like scent.

Orange Mint is a delicious herb plant perfect for summer drinks and fruit salads. The citrus flavor is a bright alternative to regular mints and works well in salads and with fruits. Like the rest of the Mint family, Orange Mint can be used to brew tea that aides in digestion. Mints have been used medicinally for centuries for its essential oil, Menthol, which has a soothing effect. Though Orange Mint has less concentrated amounts of Menthol than its cousins, Peppermint or Spearmint, its soft citrus flavor is less harsh.

Orange Mint Uses:A refreshing citrus scented Mint, Orange Mint tastes great with dishes complimented by orange or lemon tones like fruit salads, fish, poultry and summer drinks.

Tips: As with most Mints, Orange Mint grows and spreads quickly. Plant Mints together so as not to overwhelm the smells and tastes of your other herbs. Peas and Tomatoes actually benefit from being planted near Mint.

So far the plant appears to be doing well. I love that  the Grower’s Exchange gives you a detailed guide on how to take care of your new seedlings. I would love it more if catered to specific zones for all their plants.

Orang Mint - A Good Buy May 31, 2017
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Crosby, TX United States
Received the orange mint in a sturdy holder that protected the plants. Each plant (4 ordered) came in its individual pot. The potting soil was moist.

I followed directions and a couple of days later transferred the mint into a very large ceramic planter.
Orange mint does have a pleasing citrus smell.

I recommend the mint and will most likely order another variety in the future.

The Growers Exchange herbs are "fabulous", we had a bare bank that nothing would grow on. I phoned & ask their recommendation & ordered some mint plants as well as other herbs. The mint is beautiful & growing well. Thank you!
