Piccolino Basil Plants

Ocimum basilicum

The smallest basil grown!

Don't let the small size fool you ~ this basil variety may be small but it has a lovely STRONG aroma and a distinct 'basil flavor' that is a welcome addition to any dish calling for basil. The small leaves make it a wonderful flavorful garnish as well.

A small and compact grower, this annual herb grows in a dense and compact manner and looks great potted up in a 6" pot - a great windowsill garden addition. When planting multiple Piccolino Basil plants separate them by 4-8" to allow for growth. Water regularly throughout the growing season. basil loves moist, but not over-watered soil.
Zone: Annual

:9"H X 9"S

Light: Full Sun

Bloom: White, Summer

Uses: Edible aromatic foliage, small dark green leaves with authentic Italian basil flavor that tastes great sprinkled on any dish. Easy to grow in a container especially due to its compact and uniform growth habit. Can be grown indoors or out!

Tips: As with most varieties of basil, they love the sun and cannot tolerate cold. If you are keeping it indoors to extend its growing season, make sure it gets lots of light and adequate, but not excessive water. Pinch the flowering tops down to the first set of leaves, or first node, to prolong its usefulness in the kitchen.

Basil arrived in great shape, was a little top heavy and banged around, but having grown basil for 20 years, I know it will be fine.
