Briscoe White is the Co-Founder and Head Grower at The Growers Exchange, an all-natural, online garden center that specializes in rare and traditional herb plants for culinary, aromatic and medicinal use. He, along with his wife, Kenan, founded the company in 1985 as a brick-and-mortar garden shop. Over the course of 30 years, the company has transformed into a web-based business, but Briscoe’s love of nature and gardening date back as far as he can remember.
Briscoe is a member of many garden and nature-related organizations including The Garden Writers Association and The Herb Society of America. He has been a contributing editor to a number of gardening publications including Fine Gardening and Horticulture Magazine. The Growers Exchange has been featured in numerous national publications including The Wall Street Journal, Cooking Light, Sierra and Richmond Home. His plants have been featured on the Martha Stewart Show as well as HBO’s John Adams series and the movie, The New World.
On his 650-acre family farm in Charles City, Virginia, The Growers Exchange has over 15 acres in cultivation and 10 greenhouses. The company grows over 100,000 herb plants each year. The Growers Exchange is a national brand shipping over 160 types of root-ready herb plants all over the continental US. When not tending his greenhouses or writing for his blog, The Herb Exchange, he spends what little free time he has planning his next garden and playing with his dogs.
