Solidago, Stiff Goldenrod Plants

Solidago rigida

Congratulations! Solidago has been named the '2017 Herb of the Year' by the Herb Society of America.

We are excited to offer our customers Solidago rigida, also known as Stiff Goldenrod. A big, bright goldenrod with larger and flatter yellow flower clusters than found on most goldenrods.

This fall blooming native is an easy keeper - deer resistant, tolerates most soils (must be well draining), and a real lure for both butterflies and bees.

Goldenrod can be found growing in natural settings through the US: prairies, open woods and thickets. It will be a welcomed addition to any fall garden or naturalized area. Flowers bloom prolifically in late summer through the fall, and remember to remove spent blooms to encourage continuous flowers.

Stiff Goldenrod is taller than most other species, and is a hardy plant that adapts to almost any soil type. We love it because of its value as a plant that is a MONARCH BUTTERFLY favorite! In addition, its sturdy stem works as a stable perch for songbirds who feed on late season seed heads.

Please note: this plant is not responsible for your hay fever!! Hay fever is actually an allergic reaction to wind-borne pollen from other plants (especially ragweed).

Plants arrived so healthy and beautiful!  I am so grateful to have found Growers Exchange.  They are the only plants I put in my butterfly/bee garden.  So good for Mother Earth and all her Winged Beings!
