Celosia argentea var. spicata

Originally from the Peruvian Amazon, this exotic annual is low maintenance and produces high yields of blooming spikes and grows to be VERY large. If not pinched back, 'Cramer's Amazon' can take over your garden and has been known to grow up to nine feet tall in warmer climates!

Terrific filler for fresh or dried arrangements, the three inch flower prongs grow atop stunning red stems and have purple and green foliage which adds a lovely color contrast to any bouquet. As the blooms age, they will begin to turn white along the bottom of the flower, fading into a lavender or magenta at the tips.

A great border or background plant to your garden, this tropical looking flower will self seed aggressively and needs plenty of space, as they have a large growth habit and spread. Pollinators LOVE this plants and it will attract a variety of beneficial insects to your garden. Plant within view of your patio or near a window and enjoy the droves of hummingbirds and butterflies all season long!
