Holy Green Basil Plants (Tulsi)

Ocimum Sanctum
Holy Basil has a long tradition of use in Ayurvedic medicine and is a well-known sacred plant, a respected medicinal herb, of the Indian subcontinent. Green Holy Basil, also known as Ram Tulsi, is a green variety of basil with the same attributes as Red Basil.

As a medicinal herb it is used to prevent colds and flu, and cleanse the respiratory system of infection. The oil is used as an antioxidant, relieving aches and pains. In India, Hindus grow Tulsi as a religious plant in their homes and temples and use its leaves in routine worship.

Recent scientific studies suggest that both the Green and Red varieties of Holy Basil may aid in lowering blood pressure, helping liver functions and reducing the risks of diabetes.

In addition to being a sacred medicinal herb, this Basil is also a potent natural pest repellent and companion plant. The oils naturally repel mosquitoes and house flies, giving it another reason to keep this plant in and around your home. Please read Briscoe's Tips for more information on growing and using this versatile herb!

IMPORTANT: The binomial name for this plant is Ocimum sanctum. It's common name is Holy Green Basil.

Holy Basil October 21, 2015
Reviewer: Billy Whitlock from Marie, WV United States
Our plants arrived in excellent condition with outstanding packaging. Since these are annuals and not hardy in our area, we have planted them and plan to keep them indoors this winter. We are hopeful they will over-winter well and be ready for placement in the bee garden in the spring. Very pleased with the service thus far.

Great Rama Tulsi Plants October 16, 2015
Reviewer: Jag Kahlon from Fremont, CA United States
I had ordered three thinking some would not make the trip to the west coast. Happy to say all three arrived in excellent condition, one even had the purple flowers intact.
Great packaging, it was easy to transplant all three, Growers exchange creates a root mesh unlike local growers where you have to make do with naked roots only.
All three are on the kitchen windows enjoying the east west California sun.

Plants arrived heathy  and are doing well. I really haven't had an opportunity to utilize holy basil in cooking or medicinal functions yet,but look forward to it..would defiantly  purchase additional herbs from Growers Exchange.
