Butterfly Milkweed Plants

Asclepias Tuberosa

This attractive variety of Asclepias (also called Pleurisy Root) is a beautiful addition to your garden and also looks great in a pot or container for rooftop and patio gardens. Preferring full sun and dry, loamy soil, the 'tuberosa' attracts many different pollinators and is essential to the Monarch butterfly's survival.

Self seeding and drought resistant, the 'tuberosa' produces stunning orange clusters of blooms and is commonly known as "butterfly milkweed" because of its popularity with butterflies and also goes by the names "pleurisy root."

Though slow growing, this plant has been used by Native Americans for its medicinal benefits as an expectorant and treatment for respiratory infections and coughs, and has also been known to increase milk production in nursing mothers.

First Experience Very Gratifying November 2, 2015
Reviewer: Clyde Parrott from Columbus, IN United States
This was my first order with Growers Exchange, and it was top notch. I wanted to do a little bit to help the struggling Monarch butterfly by planting some butterfly milkweed, and a quick internet search found it at Growers Exchange. The plants arrived in jig-time, and they were in excellent condition. The packaging was superb, and the plants were healthy and happy. They are planted now, with a fence to keep the rabbits at bay, and The Monarchs and I look forward to next season when they bloom in all their glory! Growers Exchange will be a go-to source in the future. Glad to have found you guys!

Beautiful as Usual June 9, 2014

Thanks for the great plants! I think this is the third set of plants I've bought from you. I'm happy to say ll of my previous plants from you continue to thrive. I'm very pleased with the size and condition of these Butterfly plants. Really beautiful. They're growing nicely and some are already blooming. I've bought a lot of plants from different sellers online over the years, and your plants really are a cut above the rest. Thanks again!
